5 Tips for Skin Care in Spring

Can you feel it in the air?

The first blooms are already starting to color the earth and the sun is blessing us with longer days. Spring is in the air – and it's a great time to freshen up our skin & hair care routine (and beauty products shelf!) with the changing season.

As natural oils and moisture levels start to rebalance after a cold dry winter, you may notice changes in sebum production on your face and scalp. And for some, spring brings allergy flare-ups that can cause skin irritation and itchiness.

Here are 5 simple tips to love up on your skin as we prepare to welcome spring:

  1. Out with the Old
It's time to let go of those creams, cleansers, lotions, toners, and tools that have been collecting dust on your shelf or drawer for months (maybe even years!). Ingredients and chemical properties can break down and change over time, so using old products can be irritating to skin, especially those with more sensitive skin. Do yourself a favor and toss it out!

  2. Catch those Zzz's and Sip that H2O
Restful sleep + hydration = happy skin, and happier you! Hydrating well from the inside out can drastically improve the look and texture of your skin. And, getting enough sleep every night helps with cell turnover, circulation, mood, and hormone balance – which all affect skin health.

  3. Smooth Away Dead Winter Skin
Winter can cause dry, flaky dull skin. The best way to buff away old dead skin is by gently exfoliating. Exfoliation removes dead surface skin cells, revealing brighter, fresher skin. Use a face exfoliator like the Matcha Green Tea Face Scrub that’s gentle and that you can use on a regular basis.

  4. Stay Moisturized and Don't Forget SPF
Just because the air is starting to get slightly more humid doesn't mean we should be ditching our moisturizers! The Renew Face Elixir is a gentle way to regulate sebum production and keep skin feeling hydrated. Make sure to also layer in SPF as part of your daily skincare routine to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

  5. Get That Blood Flowin'
It's no secret that exercise and movement is great for your overall health – including your skin and hair. Exercise encourages blood flow to your face which can help flush out toxins and. After a good sweat-sesh, cleanse your skin thoroughly to avoid clogged pores and buildup.
